Sydnee Freeman most recently held the position of Director of Real Estate Development for Designing Justice + Designing Spaces; an Oakland, California, based non-profit architectural and design firm. Ms. Freeman has 17 years of development experience that includes affordable, multi-family real estate experience, commercial, entertainment, medical, non-profit, and retail development experience. Her affordable, multi-family experience includes work in the public/local government sector, quasi-government – PHA sector and private developer sector. She has extensive experience in identifying and investigating possible funding sources (private, public, debt financing and equity) for public housing and mixed-use development projects particularly through LIHTC, New Market Tax Credits, HUD programs - RAD, HOME funding, TIF funds, bonds, grants, etc.
Ms. Freeman holds a Bachelor of Art degree from the University of Texas at Austin, a Master of Public Affairs / Graduate Certificate in City Planning from the University of Texas at Dallas and Executive Leadership certification from Harvard Business School. Additionally, she was awarded the Harvard Business School MBA Class of 1973 Fund for Social Enterprise Scholarship in 2017. An additional note, she sits on the Board of Directors of Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity, chairs their Public Policy Committee and is a 21-year core volunteer.
